Westleton’s ancient thatched village church serves a small but loyal congregation. Yet it is known and loved by thousands… not least by those who attend the annual Wild Flower Festival and our regular orchestral concerts. St Peter’s also has an important community role. It is the largest public building in the village, so in demand as a venue for local events.

St Peter's from the East

In so many ways our church offers excellent facilities for all these occasions. It is blessed with a superb acoustic and a light, airy and expansive interior with ample seating capacity for 200. Add its proximity to Snape and there’s little wonder that renowned musicians and serious music aficionados alike are attracted to this enchanting rural concert venue.

The Parochial Church Council would dearly like to see the church put to even greater use by many more people and groups. However, this is, at present, impracticable. After all, St Peter’s is a building six and a half centuries old. With no plumbing, toilet or kitchen facilities, it falls short of the minimum health and safety standards required of a modern public building.
